KIB-TEK Provider and Conditions

One of the stages of purchasing a finished property or completing construction in Northern Cyprus is setting up utilities. The monopoly electricity supplier in the region is the state company KIBTEK (Kıbrıs Türk Elektrik Kurumu). The organization has offices in every city.

The procedure for transferring a meter or initial connection is mandatory for legal consumption. Without an official agreement with KIBTEK, full use of the property is not possible.

Document List and Deposit

To sign a subscriber contract, you must submit a package of documents in person or via a representative to the regional office. The current requirements include:

• Original sales agreement registered with the Land Registry and Tax Committee.
• Document confirming the owner’s identity (passport).
• Confirmation from the lawyer who handled the transaction (signature on the contract or a separate letter).
• Power of Attorney (if handled by a third party).

Important: A security deposit is charged upon connection. Currently, the amount is approximately 12,000 Turkish Lira (TL). We recommend having cash or a local bank card available.

Connection Timeline and Assistance

The application processing at KIBTEK is quite efficient. The standard connection or transfer procedure takes 2 to 5 business days if all documents are correctly submitted.
