Application to the council of ministers for purchase permit
What You Need to Know About the Application to the Council of Ministers When Buying Property in Northern Cyprus
Buying property in Northern Cyprus is a significant process that requires a careful approach and compliance with a series of mandatory procedures. After signing the purchase contract and registering it with the land registry and tax authorities, you officially become the owner of an apartment, villa, or other property. However, to gain full ownership of the land on which the building is located, you must transfer the land title to your name. This process takes longer for foreigners and requires an application to the Council of Ministers.
Why Do You Need to Apply to the Council of Ministers?
The application to the Council of Ministers is a mandatory step to ensure the security and legality of transactions involving foreign buyers. The government verifies that the prospective owner has no criminal record or unfavorable background. For this purpose, a criminal record certificate issued within the last 6 months is required. Additionally, the government checks to ensure there are no military or strategically important facilities within a 300-meter radius of the property. If such facilities are present, the application will be denied.
What Documents Are Required to Submit an Application to the Council of Ministers?
To successfully submit an application, you need to collect the following documents:
- Completed application form
- Copy of passport
- Certified copy of the purchase agreement with tax office stamps and a land registry extract
- Original criminal record certificate
- Payment of the government fee of 20,220 TL
Understanding each step of the application process and complying with government requirements will help you avoid delays and expedite the process of obtaining land ownership rights.
